It’s been a busy week for Twig Travel with a wonderful highlight of traveling to Bloomfield Hills, MI for a Wedding Wire Conference. Between a lot of work and a little bit of playing, it was a wonderful time.

I was lucky enough to stay at the Radisson Hotel ( where it’s so wonder I didn’t just stay in bed and sleep through everything. Their sleep number beds, comfortable balcony rooms complete with bathroom toiletries, hairdryer, bottled water, coffee maker, complimentary newspapers, mini-refrigerator, room service, Super Nintendo (although I really didn’t get a chance to play Mario - darn), in-room internet, bathrobes, a beautiful courtyard amongst many other amenities, could be enough to entice anyone not to leave.

Upon checking-in their concierge was kind enough to offer his services; including to carry my one bag. Of course, I couldn’t stay in my room and had to venture out to their 24 hour work out room, a swimming pool complete with hot tub, and they also have spectacular restaurant venue. Their restaurants are courtesy of the locally renowned Matt Prentice Restaurant Group with Deli Unique, a tavern and their restaurant, Northern Lakes Seafood Company where everything was absolutely delicious, but I have to say, the lobster bisque was out of this world!!! I most definitely need the recipe!!!

So, after all this investigation, it was off to the Iroquois Club for a wonderful conference with and local Wedding Pros. Let me first say, walking into the Iroquois Club was like walking through a magical door. The ambiance was marvelous along with their wonderful hors devourers and servers.

From the greetings, the interior design, the tables set with candles, low lighting, background music and entertainment provided by, and even more cookies, cakes, and other treats provided by One couldn’t walk away without a smile on their face and The Metropolitan Gallery of Photography was sure to capture all the wonderful moments

Twig Travel was able to connect with so many wonderful vendors in order to better serve our cliental and is looking forward in the continual search for the utmost service of vendors for our clients.

As I type the words I am wondering where May has gone, and why am I still searching for that “perfect” present. It’s my significant other . . . let’s just say that the best laid plans don’t always work out and now I am scrambling for Plan B.

I am always the one who is so prepared but when it comes to my husband, I have a guy who wants little and needs nothing. I have given him gifts from creative to practical to quite the surprise, and this year, I need to get busy. I’ve even tried the “if you could have anything”. . . His answer, “Just two bags of Grub X for the lawn”. Ummm, yes, I have some work to do.

I am the travel girl, the girl with creativity and vision. I am one to jump in the car, catch a plane and be off on an adventure. So why is this so hard? This got me thinking. First off, life always seems to be a bit chaotic and crazy around here with everyone on different schedules and times. Secondly, I really have a hard time buying a gift just for the sake of purchasing a gift. I will shop and shop (and shop) until I find the “it” gift. I know it’s kind of silly, but I want the gift to represent not just my recipient, but also me. I am sure I am probably more in love with some of the gifts that I give, but isn’t that where “it’s the thought that counts” came to mean? And thirdly, I want the gift to be looked at, remembered, and to bring a smile for more than just that moment. Yes, it seems like I have a lot invested in this gift searching, but I know that it will be well worth it.

So, after another day of uneventful shopping, I came home empty handed and wondering what to do? I go back to work and there before me is the answer … Chateau de Leelanau from Suttons Bay, Michigan and a recipe that would make any Sunday happy. Cherry Wine Sangria at

2 Bottles CDL Cherry Wine
1/2 Bottle CDL Sparkling Cherry Juice
1 Pineapple (sliced)
2 Oranges (sliced)
2 Lemons (sliced)
1 Lime (sliced)
1 Quart fresh strawberries (cut up)

Mix and Enjoy!

Now I have a plan and another trip to the store with a mission. I hope that my wonderful husband will sit back and relax with an appreciation of knowing how much he is loved!!! Grub X and Cherry Sangria - hym, what more is there to want on Father’s Day?!

“A time for warm thoughts and fond memories, for expressing
the feelings and words that often go unspoken, for letting those special people in our lives know that they are loved and
appreciated - always”

Happy Mother’s Day and yes, it is right around the corner. With Springtime quickly turning into Summer, here are some last minute
ideas from Luxury-to-Deals, that any Mom, Sister, Aunt or that special someone would be more than elated to receive such a gift. I have a
few favorites here myself in which I might just have to drop a few
hints to my family.

On a side note, I would like to thank my children for allowing me
to be their mother ~ what a beautiful gift in itself! And especially
to my own mother who has let me become who I am today.  I
thank her for all her grace, compassion, and her ever-present love
for me!!! Without the special people in my life I would not be who
I am and for that, my deepest love to all! Thank you and may
your day be just as special as you are!
